FREEGAN

FREEGAN follows the practice of Freeganism. The practice of someone eating previously discarded food. I.e. food that has been taken off store shelves and removed from sale due to it reaching it’s “best before” or “sell by“ date. Still sealed and perfectly edible.

Taken from bins from the back of supermarkets the items are immortalised in film.By presenting the items in a formal, high quality fashion is a juxtaposition of where the items originated and comment on the importance of the items to people who rely on them most like the homeless. It will also comment on and question why these items have been removed from sale when they are still edible and even so, why they have just been dumped rather than donated to someone who could benefit from them.
