8 - 2014

Photography and truth is a long running discourse. The line between fact and fiction has become somewhat more blurred in the digital age. New ways of capturing images through the internet using services such as Google Maps has opened up new ways of exploring the Earth. The difference being the world presented to us by the internet is not in fact the one we live in but a world where perhaps straight lines aren’t so straight and squares aren’t so square.

As part of a further reaching series of images, '8' explores the nuances of this new virtual world and questions the technology that created it and its usefulness as a tool.

Presented top down as they were captured, the images refer back to their source and comment on the new dimension of exploration available to us. Manchester based DOP
